First of all, they never fought about her. And while they both had feelings for her, the whole trio's dynamic revolves around the fact that both Kate and Sawyer just want Jack's attention and he's too dense (or, ya know, neurodivergent) to notice either of them is flirting with him.

(To be fair, Sawyer himself doesn't realise he's flirting with him. But he is. Oh, he is.)

Imo, you don't understand Jack/Kate/Sawyer relationship if you don't acknowledge Jack as the apex of the love triangle. I know, I know, the show does its best to make you think that's Kate the apex but, really, it's Jack.

Everybody on that island is a little in love with Jack but Jack. Jack hates himself lol.

Just in time for Pride month, this fic is one I have revisited a few times and it always leaves me feeling warm and fuzzy. It's a quick read, but it's really soft and sweet.

Jack stops into Dean's bar after he gets separated from his dad (Cas) at Pride. Dean is a bit of a scrooge when it comes to the Pride parade, but Jack's sweet earnestness and smoking hot father pull him out of his mood.

I particularly like the little details about Dean's past and the way he feels hopeful to see a new generation encountering a less hostile world. Also, the chemistry between Dean and Cas is amazing. They are drawn to each other in a really compelling way.

I personally feel like it is not talked/written about enough how traumatizing and terrifying it must have been for John to learn about Abigail's pregnancy and see her in labor when his own mother died giving birth to him. I have no doubt his father probably held it over his head as well, considering the little we know about him. I've seen it brought up on occasion, but never fully delved into. I just love trying to dissect John as a character, and I feel this is a super important part of him and his story as a whole. (I am not saying that this in any way excuses the way he treats Abigail and Jack at the start of the second game, it doesn't, but I do think that it explains it.)

The fact that Jack Crawford became a voluntary cannibal is not talked about enough. Yea, he had a good reason in theory. He wanted to catch Hannibal. We know that he had no problems using others to accomplish the goals he has and that he will sacrifice the few to save the many, every single time. He is always focused on the big picture. But it really is such a huge example of how the lines between justifiable/unjustifiable, moral/immoral, and acceptable/unacceptable blend together for all the characters, not just Will. Jack does plenty of bad things, but he's a character that has arguably one of the most consistent motives and best intentions. But the lines between what is good and what isn't blur to the point they are unrecognizable for almost all the characters. Jack is willing to eat people that Hannibal killed so that he would have a better chance at catching him. There is no line at that point. The characters will stop at nothing to accomplish their goals. The show isn't just about the corruption of Will Graham and his descent into darkness. Almost every character loses themselves at one point or another until they all become something other in the end.

Maybe Nico is a little insecure about how everyone loves Jack? (And maybe Jack has to remind him that hey everyone loves ur ass too bud)

I like this one omg. It's giving romance novel vibes!

33. “I don’t want them. I want you.”

It takes Nico a little while to realize what he's feeling is insecurity. It's not that he doesn't feel it normally - he feels like he's got a healthy balance of knowing his limits and knowing his skill, so when realization strikes it catches him off guard.

He's feeling insecure. But like - what? and why? He and Jack are in a very established, comfortable relationship - they work well together, play well together, live well together.

He'd argue that he's one of the few people barring Jack's own family that knows him so well, knows him intimately - there's no reason he should feel this way.

And yet. Once he realizes, Nico can't stop thinking about it, can't get it out of his head.

The way the guys tease and dote on him.

The way the fans scream Jack's name, red jerseys with HUGHES emblazoned across the back to support him

Guys at the gym that come up to him with compliments and curiosity, trying to play it cool but failing to hide their admiration

That time they played the Canucks and Quinn invited them over for post-game food with a few of the guys, watching Jack seamlessly assimilate into the group with easy banter and big grins

It makes Nico shift restlessly in his corner on the couch and shred the label off his beer bottle until Jack suddenly pops up in front of him, shoving Nico's jacket into his arms. C'mon, I'm craving something sweet and Q only has ugly health snacks in his fridge.

It's not until they're outside, walking the block towards the closest twenty-four hour Tim's, that Jack gives him a knowing glance and says, "you were starting to look a little freaked out upstairs, Neeks. what's going on? are you okay?"

And it just spills out. Everything he's been mulling over for the last while, just splat on the cold pavement in front of them. Nico's mortified by the time he trails off, head hanging low and feeling intensely clingy.

But Jack just stops him - right there in the street, late at night under the streetlamp, and drapes his arms around Nico's neck to kiss him properly. He's so warm it makes Nico relax right away.

"I don't want them. I want you." He says it so easily, so honestly, it makes Nico's heart swell. "Besides, I don't think you realize just how much everybody's in love with you. C'mon, babe, I'm gonna give you the lowdown."
